Oct. 18-20, 2013 – Jeanmarie Paolillo “Yoga Vibe-a-Thon”

JeanMarie Description

Humans are creative beings. Beyond the mundane experiences that we produce on a day to day basis, we strive to create as a mechanism to both express who we are and live life to its fullest. And yet, those desires may never come to fruition. Our dreams and aspirations are often held captive to deeply held patterns of thought, word and deed known in yoga as samskaras.

Join Jeanmarie for a weekend of asana, meditation and workshop dedicated to a deeper understanding of creating from the standpoint of the philosophy of yoga; a peek into the mind and how it works; the importance of meditation and mindfulness in creating; and how to apply these practical tools to more effectively and actively create in your life.

About Jeanmarie

Jeanmarie Paolillo is a senior teacher, teacher trainer and mentor at Yoga Works in New York City. She leads trainings and workshops on asana, the philosophy of yoga, meditation and mindfulness, and the energetic body internationally. The fundamental purpose of yoga for Jeanmarie is learning to be present in the moment. She lives in the passionate belief that all things in life are possible and the_vibe_a_thon_smthat manifestation requires an understanding that everything is the culmination of our thoughts. The journey of yoga leads the practitioner to a place of awareness regarding the life they are creating so they can consciously create their lives – as evidenced by her own leap from the corporate world after 20 years. She is known for her strong vinyasa classes that emphasize alignment as a tool for mindfulness, truly meditation in motion. Through a combination of asana, pranayama, visualization and meditation mixed with a great sense of humor, Jeanmarie strives to bring what she has learned to others while receiving lessons from those she teaches. Jeanmarie has been featured in Natural Health Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Yoga Journal and has appeared on Weddings.com and the CBS Morning Show. She is part of the Expert Network for Greatest.com and a featured contributor to The Daily Love. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Indiana University and is in the process of completing studies toward a Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (May, 2013). Her first book, The Vibe-a-Thon, will be released in September, 2013.

About Genny

Genny Kapuler has studied yoga since 1976 and has been teaching since 1980. She has studied three times in India with the Iyengar family. Her primary teacher here is Mary Dunn.

Before the birth of her child and before she began teaching yoga, Genny performed as a modern dancer; for many years she had her own company. She is also trained as an Alexander-technique teacher and is a practitioner of Body-Mind Centering.

In addition to her yoga training, Genny has studied anatomy extensively.

She applies this knowledge to her understanding and teaching of yoga, directing her students toward a deeper awareness in asana and pranayama through precision of alignment. Genny also uses the poetics of language to guide her students, and to create “a mind-state in the room that is gentle and focused.”

Through Iyengar Yoga, she says, students attain ever more precise alignment of the skeletal-muscular, organ, and nervous systems. Working towards harmony of body, mind, and spirit, they are able to move out into the world with more grace.
