Heathen Hill is pleased to present these outstanding guest teachers
In the Bodhisattva tradition, being of greater benefit to those around you, often begins with benefiting yourself. Vivekan & Jess invite you to join them for a weekend of bliss in the nearby mountains! Establish a solid Basics-level practice (or deepen a preexisting one!) with revitalizing Bodhisattva Yoga; a combination of engaging mindful flows, breath work, meditation, Buddhist philosophy, and the altruistic motivation to help others– with a rock and roll sensibility to top it off. With home-cooked, locally-harvested meals, the idyllic late summer setting, and lots of relaxing down-time, it’s the perfect opportunity to set the important foundations integral to a safe, comprehensive, and fun Bodhisattva Yoga practice.
Vivekan is the founder and director of Park Slope, Brooklyn’s Bodhisattva Yoga (www.BodhisattvaYoga.com). He was originally certified under a direct disciple of Swami Satchidananda and has since studied with many teachers of varying traditions. He has especially been inspired by teachers from Tibet, China, India & the West. Synthesizing these influences, Vivekan has created his own unique brand of yoga instruction called Bodhisattva Yoga. His meditation instruction, and broad yogic knowledge and experience, enriches his students’ experience with his ability to tie yogic philosophy with ordinary, everyday experiences.
Bodhisattva Yoga’s Co-Director, Jess, received her teacher certification under Vivekan and continues to apprentice under his guidance. She draws inspiration from her practice, her teachers and the Dharma. Among students and private clients she is known for her warmth, encouragement and her ability to share her personal tips, tricks and hacks to make life off and on the mat a little more laid back and rock star.

Genny Kapuler has studied yoga since 1976 and has been teaching since 1980. She has studied three times in India with the Iyengar family. Her primary teacher here is Mary Dunn.
Before the birth of her child and before she began teaching yoga, Genny performed as a modern dancer; for many years she had her own company. She is also trained as an Alexander-technique teacher and is a practitioner of Body-Mind Centering.
In addition to her yoga training, Genny has studied anatomy extensively.
She applies this knowledge to her understanding and teaching of yoga, directing her students toward a deeper awareness in asana and pranayama through precision of alignment. Genny also uses the poetics of language to guide her students, and to create “a mind-state in the room that is gentle and focused.”
Through Iyengar Yoga, she says, students attain ever more precise alignment of the skeletal-muscular, organ, and nervous systems. Working towards harmony of body, mind, and spirit, they are able to move out into the world with more grace.

Explore & Play: Human Movement and Asana
Join Paula Liberis for a weekend of creative play and adventurous practice. Come prepared to light up your practice and make your body and mind sparkle and glow like luminous fireworks!
This fresh approach to movement will allow you to uncover unconscious holding patterns and find the restrictions that keep you from moving freely and gracefully in your asana practice.
We will employ a sense of playfulness and curiosity to help us explore human movement and asana with freedom and ease. With the elimination of tension and expectation we can more fully explore the integration of asana, pranayama and deep relaxation.
