He is directly influenced by the flow and strength of the Ashtanga series and the alignment, intelligence and awareness of the Iyengar tradition. About Genny

Genny Kapuler has studied yoga since 1976 and has been teaching since 1980. She has studied three times in India with the Iyengar family. Her primary teacher here is Mary Dunn.

Before the birth of her child and before she began teaching yoga, Genny performed as a modern dancer; for many years she had her own company. She is also trained as an Alexander-technique teacher and is a practitioner of Body-Mind Centering.

In addition to her yoga training, Genny has studied anatomy extensively.

She applies this knowledge to her understanding and teaching of yoga, directing her students toward a deeper awareness in asana and pranayama through precision of alignment. Genny also uses the poetics of language to guide her students, and to create “a mind-state in the room that is gentle and focused.”

Through Iyengar Yoga, she says, students attain ever more precise alignment of the skeletal-muscular, organ, and nervous systems. Working towards harmony of body, mind, and spirit, they are able to move out into the world with more grace.

About Carrie

Carrie is the founder of HoliMomma, yoga practitioner, massage therapist, body-worker, mother of 2, wife, lover, friend and spiritual being. She is forever a student of yoga and life itself.

About Dee

Dee started practicing yoga by following VCR tapes in her basement in the early 90’s. How times have changed! But through the twists and turns of life’s journey, the one thing that has remained constant is the faithful friendship of her practice. A registered vinyasa yoga teacher since 2008, she has expanded her teaching into prenatal, kid’s, and restorative yoga as well. Her bulk of her days are spent teaching middle school English, sharing the joys of life with her daughter, Haddie, and of course, practicing yoga as a form of spiritual aspirin. Any time left goes to reading, cooking, spending time in nature, and laughing with friends.

BIO:
I am a mother, partner, student, and movement educator. I have been working in New York City as an independent dance artist, massage therapist, and 500hr certified yoga and anatomy teacher for over a decade. I am also a Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist. I hold a BFA in Dance from FSU with a concentration on Performance, Movement Conditioning, and Kinesiology. I am also a Doula with Carriage House Birth and a Senior Teacher and Trainer with YogaWorks. I lead both 200hr and 300hr professional yoga programs in New York City and all over the US.

As a mover, shaker, and lover of the arts, I seek to find the authentic artistic vision that lives within each of us. I began practicing yoga in 1996 and have been studying kinesiology and teaching multiple movement disciplines for over 20 years. I have also taught as an adjunct dance professor at Georgia College & State University and Central Connecticut State University. With a background in structural bodywork and massage therapy, working with injuries and using biomechanics to inform my teaching are areas of keen concentration. Passion, playfulness, and curiosity are major components of my offerings and practice which help to ignite growth and self-study in this lifelong yogic quest for balance.

In my classes, I combine my love of movement, creativity, kinesiology, and anatomy to bring strength, clarity, and awareness to the body. Focus on the individual and the breath are paired with dynamic intelligent sequencing. With an educational and compassionate approach to yoga I strive to blend the balance of strength and mobility in asana, self-reflection, and exploration of philosophy while encouraging students to find their own unique path to a continually evolving practice.
