July 6-8 – Summer Yoga Retreat with JENNY SCHUCK and TOBIE SCHUERFELD

Jenny strives to create smart sequencing within the aligned vinyasa style – in each class preparing the body for what’s to come as the practice progresses. She is a student of Rodney Yee and completed her 500-hour training with Natasha Rizopoulis. She owns Yoga Culture in Danbury, Connecticut, the most welcoming studio on earth. The weekend will be a mix of asana practice and her work that she calls ‘Stability for the Yoga Body’ (S4YB) – a series of exercises to create stability in the body made more flexible by yoga practice. See her Instagram account @gimmeprops for a sampling. Arrive Friday night for dinner, two practices on Saturday and then we join with my good friend Tobie Schuerfeld for the Sunday morning practice. This is gonna be fun! Contact jenny@weareyogaculture.com for info or to register.

Nourish, a yoga retreat by Tobie Schuerfeld

Tobie believes that making space in the body to breathe is the most important part of the yoga practice. Her classes always tell a story whether they are moving towards a peak pose or have a specific theme. Tobie likes to warm up the body slowly and deliberately to allow students to deepen their awareness of movement and breath. She has been a student of Rodney Yee’s for the last 10 years and received her 200hr training at Karuna Yoga with Eileen Muir. She is also a massage therapist and has a level two certification in positional therapy. This weekend will include asana, breath awareness and meditation. The last class of the weekend with be co taught with the fabulous Jenny Shuck! Contact tschuerfeld45@comcast.net for information.

September 7-9 – Ellen Kaplow/Satsang Yoga – Syncronicity On the Hill

Syncronicity On the Hill

Join Ellen Kaplow from Satsang Yoga as we come together to synchronize  our soul and spirit on “the Hill”. As the summer draws to its close, you’ll enjoy  fulfilling practices, delicious food, great company while being surrounded by the beauty and simplicity of Heathen Hill.  You will leave this weekend feeling fulfilled, integrated and completely satisfied…Surely this is the perfect recipe for heading into Fall.

Synchronicity is a term that is frequently used to represent the process of experiences coming together and forming some sort of meaning. Synchronistic occurrences are formidable and propel us forward with a surge of ephemeral courage. Their bold luminosity fills us with a sense of awe and wonder and they leave the fray of untethered questions in our inquisitive minds. These are unexplained moments.

Sept. 28-30 – “Yoga into Fall, Fall into Yoga” with Sigrid

Retreat description

“Yoga into Fall, Fall into Yoga” with Sigrid

Join Sigrid for a weekend of yoga, fresh country air, great food, old and new friends, laughter, fun, games, mindfulness, playfulness … what else can we fit into a weekend to return to our lives rejuvenated, relaxed, and maybe a bit wiser… !? Oh yes, a hot tub and campfires!
All levels welcome!

About Sigrid

Sigrid has been teaching yoga in New York City, Florida, Mexico, and Austria since 2006 and has helped many fledgling and advanced yogis to find their path and advance their practice. She believes in the complexity of yoga as a wonderful tool to improve body, mind, and soul; but as complex as yoga may be, her teaching comes from a place of understanding and compassion.

Born and raised in Austria, she came to New York in 1998 and – involuntarily – discovered yoga when a friend dragged her to a Bikram class – and the rest is history. In 2007 she took her first 200 hour training with Jimmy Barkan in Fort Lauderdale, and has trained and worked under his guidance throughout the years.  Other influential teachers in her life were Vinnie Marino, Baron Baptiste, Seane Corn, and Bryan Kest, and many of her fellow teachers and dear friends in the yoga world in New York City and beyond.

Her love for movement and challenging the body and mind does not stop at yoga. Sigrid is also a certified TRX Instructor as well as a Stages Indoor Cycling (spinning) Instructor. Her training in Lotus Palm Thai Yoga Massage enhances her understanding of the functionality of the body (and makes for some great adjustments). Sigrid is teaching group and private classes in New York City, as well as at annual retreats around the world.

Sigrid helps you to open up and be bold and embrace your journey on the mat with all its highs and lows, its successes and failures, its physical challenges and emotional rollercoasters. Yoga is movement, breath, and a whole lot of fun!! She invites you to explore yourself and play together!

Check out www.yogaandwellnessbysigrid.com for more information – website will be up and running by the end of February 2018!
