October 26-28 – Jenny Aurthur Second Annual Autumn Retreat
Join Jenny for her second autumn retreat at Heathen Hill. In addition to three long and playful yoga classes led by Jenny, a senior teacher trainer from Yogaworks since 1998, you can enjoy watching the leaves turn into their glorious fall colors either hiking through the nearby woods or enjoying a glass of wine in the hot tub. You can be active or quiet, whichever your heart desires. The meals alone are worth the price of admission. Prepared by the feisty and hilarious Queen of the manor herself, Susan “Lip” Orem and her lovely and equally talented sidekick, Lisa, the food is to die for. Most of it comes directly from the farm at Heathen Hill. We play games and roast marshmallows but you can also retreat on your own, take multiple naps a day and swing in the hammock.
Prices coming soon!
About Jenny
Jenny started practicing yoga at Yoga Works in 1993 with Seane Corn. During a stressful stint in Hollywood she relied on her yoga practice and teachers to maintain sanity. She took the Yoga Works teacher training with Maty Ezraty and Lisa Walford in 1998. She worked behind the front desk as a greeter and became assistant manager at the Montana location and has not looked back since. She started teaching full time in 2000 and moved to New York in 2004 where she began teaching teacher trainings and took on the job of Teacher Director. She headed up the steering committee for teacher training in New York City and mentored teachers who became trainers themselves. She has taught over thirty 200 hour trainings in NYC, LA, Chicago, DC, Savannah, Oslo and Istanbul. She has mentored in over ten 300 trainings in NYC.
After being a devout vinyasa and ashtanga Mysore practitioner with Maty Ezraty in Los Angeles for many years she now studies Iyengar yoga with Carrie Owerko in NYC. She weaves in the different methods that have influenced her to create a thoughtful and fun practice that stresses the importance and beauty of precision and clarity in practice. She is continuously amazed by how much the Yoga Sutras help contextualize her life and how, as a result of her practice, she continues to grow spiritually.
She believes in teaching as service and is grateful on a daily basis for the amazing teachers who have influenced her asana practice, her teaching and more importantly her life; Seane Corn, Maty Ezraty, Erich Schiffmann, Lisa Walford, Vinnie Marino and Carrie Owerko.
November 2-4 – Women’s Yoga Retreat with Daniele and Deidra
This is a fall women’s yoga retreat at the Heathen Hill Yoga facility in the Catskills located approximately three hours from New York City. The property itself sits on ten acres and is a perfect location to simply rest and recharge. In addition, you have the option to wander on the property and do some hiking and/or hang in the hot tub. The weekend will include 4 yoga classes, two 90 minute Vinyasa classes, two Iyengar classes specific to the women’s practice both active and restorative. There will be meditation led throughout the weekend before or after classes. Note all classes are optional and there will be plenty of time and space to hang out as a group or individually.
About Danielle DiCamillo
For Danielle, cultivating a deep yoga practice was a natural extension of her lifelong study of dance and was the perfect way to integrate movement and the mind. Danielle completed her Dance and Psychology Degree at Hunter College and shortly thereafter received her yoga certification from Laughing Lotus in 2008. She has been teaching for ten years and along the way received her Masters in Social Work at Hunter College. Danielle works as a Licensed Master of Social Work and utilizes her yoga and meditation practices to serve and empower communities throughout New York City. Danielle’s yoga teaching is inspired both by her integrative background of her clinical practice and her most influential teacher Nikki Vilella of Kula Yoga Project. Her classes emphasize alignment of the body with a moveable flow while maintaining connection to the breath. She incorporates all elements of the practice—physical, mental, and spiritual—in order to create a strong foundation for her students.
About Deidra Demens
Deidra Demens was introduced to Yoga in 2004. While studying at The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago Illinois, Deidra explored various styles of Yoga, movement and breathing exercises as creative ways of expression.
Upon graduating, Deidra moved to New York to follow her dream of becoming a theatre artist. Between shows Deidra continued studying Yoga and began teaching in 2011.
After taking her first Iyengar class, Deidra was amazed at how much she learned in just one class. “I needed a foundation for my practice and teaching, I found it in Iyengar Yoga. The instructions were clear and precise. My interest in Yoga was elevated. My practice transformed, and so my journey began.” – Deidra Demens
Deidra enrolled in the Teacher Training at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York and became certified at Intro I/ II level in November 2017. Deidra continues to study with her primary teachers Lara Warren (her mentor) and James Murphy, she is grateful for their support and inspiration. Deidra’s approach to teaching is focused and fun, her classes are energetic and engaging. Through demonstration and detailed alignment Deidra seeks to both challenge and inspire her students.

Feb 5-7, 2016 – Catskills Meditation and Gentle Movement Retreat
Join NYC based teachers Laurel Beversdorf of YogaWorks and James Loney of Heights Meditation for a very special winter meditation and gentle movement retreat at Heathen Hill. Take a mindful pause surrounded by the snowy landscape of the Catskills mountains. Slow down, take measure, and create the conditions of profound peace within yourself amidst the company of new friends.
About Laurel
Known for her vivid and playful teaching style, Laurel empowers her students with tools that decrease their tolerance for pain and increase their tolerance for pleasure. A certified Yoga Tune Up® and E-RYT 500 YogaWorks teacher, Laurel leads self-massage and yoga classes, as well as teacher trainings and anatomy workshops around the world. www.laurelyoga.com
About James
James Loney’s life-long interest in meditation was first sparked many years ago through a week-long silent meditation course he happened to audit at a German university. Impressed by the ardency of his first teachers — whose silent meditation and chanting began at 4:00 am every day — James took ‘the technique’ back to everyday life on the streets of Berlin, practicing daily, reading the Buddhist suttras, and adopting the teachings to his everyday life. A social activist all his life, today James leads a thriving meditation community in Northern Manhattan. www. heightsmeditation.com.
