MaryMary Christensen (RYT 500+):  After working over 20 years in the corporate world, Mary understands that it is important in our busy everyday lives to slow down, center yourself and just simply breathe. Her yoga classes create a safe space for the students allowing them to find sanctuary in their yoga practice.  Mary enjoys teaching Restorative yoga classes as well as Gentle/slower paced yoga classes with a focus on alignment.

GeorgetteGeorgette Kaftan (RYT 200+):  With a focus on encouraging students to become aware of thoughts and expectations that no longer serve them, Georgette hopes that they can learn to embrace setbacks, look inside, live where they fear to live, and emerge stronger.  Georgette teaches all-levels “Vigorous Vinyasa” and Yin Yoga classes. Her teaching style is fun, encouraging self-acceptance and mindful alignment with the goals of creating internal strength and space for growth.

August 28-30, 2015 – 2nd Annual Summer Bliss Retreat with Dina Ivas

SummerBlissRetreatPic

Description

We had such a blast last summer, and I’m so excited to do it again!  Escape the stress of the city for a fun weekend of serenity in nature.  Treat yourself to 3-days of energizing and restorative yoga sessions, locally-grown fresh gourmet food, and blissful surroundings.  Bring a good book, a bathing suit, a beach towel, and bask in the lush green fields, take a dip in the swimming pond, or gently sway into a soothing nap on the hammock.  In the evening, enjoy s’mores around the bonfire, unwind in the hot tub, or sip wine under the starry skies.   This retreat is friendly to all levels so don’t be shy if you are new to yoga.  Everyone is welcome!

About Dina

It took Dina a little while to discover her inner ‘yogi.’  A former competitive gymnast, she’s always loved to move, play, and test her boundaries, but something was missing.  “Yoga didn’t come easily to me,” Dina shares, “I was frustrated that I couldn’t get into certain poses, and I always forgot to breathe.  With continued practice, I began to realize that it’s not about how long you can hold crow pose, but about letting go of what you think you can and can’t do, and taking the focus inward where your true power lies.”  Inspired by how yoga changed her own mindset, in 2010 Dina completed the teacher training program at Sonic Yoga and left her corporate day job to focus exclusively on teaching.  She strives to offer classes that challenge the body and the mind, yet are fun, not intimidating, and accessible to all levels.  She encourages students to explore on the mat, and keeps the mood lighthearted with great playlists and creative sequencing.  Her teaching philosophy is embodied in three simple words: “Breathe, Play, Grow.”   Dina is excited to return to Heathen Hill this summer, taking the practice of yoga out of the concrete jungle of NYC so students can unplug and unwind.  For more about Dina, visit:  www.yogawithdina.com
