July 8-10, 2016 – Wonderful Weeds and Whoopee Yoga with LISA KING and LIP

WONDERFUL WEEDS

LisaKingHeathen Hill has beautiful flowers and a terrific vegetable garden but it is the WEEDS that will save us.

There are thirteen weeds, all of which run rampant at Heathen Hill, that are essential for human survival.

During the HEATHEN HILL BOTANICAL WORKSHOP you will forage for edible, nutrient rich plants and learn how to prepare them. Lunch!

You will turn other weeds into herbal preparations:  teas, decoctions, salves and creams.

During the weekend you will be mindful of FLOWERS.  What blossom draws you in? Which blooms catch your eye? These are clues behind the science of Flower Essences.  It is said that Flower Essences are for soul healing. You will learn how to make a flower essence and more importantly how to identify which flowers will help to heal you.
RAIN OR SHINE!   Bring your poncho.

About Lisa

Born in the Adirondacks and raised in the Catskills, my roots and heart belong to upstate New York.

My life has taken many twists and turns, with a few constants: my love of nature and my passion for food. Much of my employment has had a focus on food whether it be the growing of, marketing and sales, or preparation and serving.

One of the twists landed me on an organic dairy farm. It was there that my education in medicinal herbs began. The cows were my guinea pigs.  I was immersed in studying, growing, preparing and administering herbal preparations to my bovine patients.

Restaurants and cafes replaced the farm setting and my herbal studies continued.

I relocated to Asheville, NC to be nearer to my daughter, Cassana and Grandson, Aza. I attended the Appalachian School of Herbal Medicine while there.

In 2013, I was drawn back to my roots. I was offered a position at Heathen Hill Yoga. Because working at this glorious place topped my most favorite jobs ever, it was a no brainer. I packed up my car and raced back to Upstate New York.

Being here is heaven for me. I’m growing food and feeding yogis.

My love of herbals continued and Heathen Hill Botanicals was created. It’s an expanding line of herbal preparations I retail. Mini botanical workshops are offered during yoga retreats, and added most recently, plans for full weekends of herbal study and activities.
