Finding your footing

Break away from the endless list of things to do and social media feeds that tell us what we should be doing and how we need to feel. Practice with the intention of grounding and feeling open and receptive. Tune out: get quiet, unwind – and listen. Tune in: address yourself, your needs and wants. Practice to feel good and whole, to feel like yourself. Join NYC based teacher Sangeeta Vallabhan for a long weekend of practice and play.

About Sangeeta

Sangeeta Vallabhan has been teaching yoga in NYC for over 12 years. Sangeeta teaches vinyasa style classes that are challenging and well balanced, grounding and empowering. Sangeeta has studied with many teachers over the years, the most notable being Sharon Gannon, David Life, Gurmukh and Schuyler Grant. She has also been featured in Yoga Journal. As the creator of solemarch, she encourages students to use the practices of yoga to continually seek out their own voice, their true sense of self and to not feel the need to conform to any one method or philosophy. We are all unique and complex – and it’s natural to deduce our yoga practice would be as well. For more info on Sangeeta, please visit www.sangeetavallabhan.com

Sept. 9-11, 2016 – Iyengar Yoga retreat with Neta Katz

The Pace of Fall – Nurturing quiet steadiness in times of transition and activity.

This weekend we will practice sequences from the different groups of asanas:

standing
forward bends
backbends
inversions
restorative

As always, we will study the workings of these poses, and our alignment within them.
But.. as we transition from summer to fall, I’d like to explore the different natures of these asanas.

We will explore their different qualities, dispositions, and moods.

Some are active and require intensity, others are are passive, challenging our ability to be still.
We move through some dynamically, we hold others over time. We build heat is some, and cool down in others.

Why are the poses so different from one another? What is the purpose?

This weekend we will learn that our willingness to explore various temperaments of poses, and the multitude of situations they present, holds the promise of developing quiet steadiness, in our ever changing lives.

About Neta

Neta found Iyengar Yoga at 18. During her first class, she realized that Yoga would be a life-long path.

She has been teaching Iyengar Yoga since 1998. Her style of teaching is deeply rooted in her background as an architect. She teaches asana (Yoga postures) with a studied understanding of structure and space.

In addition to Yoga neta is a licensed massage therapist, she has studied anatomy and physiology extensively. Her love and knowledge of anatomy comes through clearly in her teaching, as she guides students towards a profound understanding of the body.

Besides teaching asana classes, Neta teaches Yoga philosophy at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.

Price range is $450-$700
