2017 Past Retreats

March 17-19, 2017 – Heights Meditation of Northern Manhattan Late Winter Retreat: ‘Going Forth–Bringing Meditation into your Everyday Life’

Most people who meditate do so fitfully and sporadically. Our overarching theme at this first retreat will be “Going Forth–Incorporating Your Pracitice into Daily Life.” The March 2017 retreat will approach the challenge of living a conscious and animated life from differing but complementary perspectives. Laurel Beversdorf, Gentle Motion Teacher, will be along to keep your body moving gently all three days. You should expect to return home having found abundant and good reason why meditation–the dharmmic practice of calming the mind in order to calm the body–will become an essential part of your good and conscious life, replete with physical and emotional well-being.

Many who attended our previous retreat in February 2016 have attested to the power of a Heights Meditation retreat. For this reason, we suggest you register early. As of 1-21-2017 half the beds are booked for this first retreat. Food and lodging costs for this three day retreat have been set at $415/person (travel costs are separate). Lodgings at Heathen Hill Retreat Center are clean, simple and exquisite, and the food and the company you will keep when among us will be exemplary. Please write to heightsmeditation@gmail.com and inquire now if you are interested in more details about attending or would like to register using the online registration form.

June 16-18, 2017 – Julie Dohrman

Get out of the city for Julie’s annual Summer Solstice Retreat at Heathen Hill !

Summer Solstice is the beginning of Summer season when fireflies, BBQ’s, outdoor activities and good old vitamin D are added to the playlist of life. The extra light and solar energy is ours to harness and make use of. Its a time when more confidence, decisiveness, unbridled joy and a sense of freedom can be cultivated and embodied.

As a mover, shaker, and lover of the arts, Heather seeks to find the authentic artistic vision that lies within each of us. She began practicing yoga in 1996 and has been studying kinesiology and teaching movement for 20 years. Heather has a specialty of working with injuries and uses biomechanics to inform her teaching. July 14-16, 2017 – Summer Yoga Retreat with Jenny Schuck and Tobi Schuerfeld

Jenny strives to create smart sequencing within the aligned vinyasa style. She is a student of Rodney Yee and completed her 500-hour training with Natasha Rizopoulis. She owns Yoga Culture in Danbury, Connecticut. The weekend will be a mix of asana practice and her work that she calls ‘Stability for a Yoga Body’ – a series of exercises to create stability in the central regions of the body made mobile by yoga practice – developed to prevent everyday injuries. We join with my good friend Tobie Schuerfeld for the Sunday morning practice. This is gonna be fun!
