West Meets East in the Catskills
May 10 11, 2008 at Heathen Hill Retreat Center
In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna (pictured here with Barbie) says yoga is “equanimity” . What exactly does he mean? And how can we, you know, get some of that? In this East meets West weekend retreat, California yoga teacher Nina Zolotow and New York yoga teacher Lip Orem will reveal how yoga philosophy combined with asana practice and breath awareness can help you live your everyday life with resilience and grace. Cultivating equanimity in your yoga practice and outside the yoga room can help counter the materialistic and success-oriented culture we live in, in which striving, more often than not, simply leads to more stress. You can learn new ways of dealing with difficult situations and begin to savor your life more fully. There will be three classes: Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday morning. During each class, Nina will discuss the yoga scriptures and describe some of the most important yogic concepts. Lip will then lead you through a physically satisfying asana practice that allows you to explore various aspects of equanimity in action.
